and you know I wasn't sure that sweet little machine still worked or that I would even remember how to turn it on - but it's like riding a bike, it all came back, lol. I told Kari that I would sew a few bindings on some small projects she had finished up and needed before she headed down the road to Paducah where she is vending this week. Ahhhh it felt great to be sewing again. It won't be long and I'll be sitting in this spot doing my thing
This past weekend was the quilt show our guilds put on every 2 years. I didn't sign up for any classes because my schedule right now is a bit unpredictable - but I did attend the lunch, ran, well walked quickly through the vendors and quickly checked out the quilts. One of the peeps had a couple of quilts there (sorry if there were more peeps, these I recognized quickly) - this one was a hand applique class we all took and she finished hers - YAHOO for GB - beautiful
a fun snowman quilt by her as well
loved this striking color combo - I think one of the woolies peeps made this quilt
great designs and color
of course I'm a sucker for star quilts
Oh my this next quilt I saw at one of our guild's meeting last year and it blew my socks off - of course it's made entirely of wool so you know it made my knees weak, lol
Things are really moving out at the new house. In fact we could move in if we had to, but we don't so will wait - even though it's pretty hard there sisters. So let's give a quick little tour of what's been happening starting with this beauty and how it will eventually look
but how it's looking right now
there's some issues going on there with the mantel and the tile, but it's all good and being taken care of and even tho it won't be complete when we move in, they are fixing it so that it will look fine until the problem is resolved - not a big deal.
here's just a few random shots around the upstairs - let's start off with Mr. Farmhouse being goofy and walking right into my shot as I took the picture, so I'm going to share it with you - back at ya Mr. Farmhouse
what I'll be looking at when I finally get my butt on the treadmill and start the process of dropping some poundage and getting healthy - it's looooong overdue. just ask my pants, lol. Tell me how come it takes so long for the weight to come off (I worked so hard on that a couple of years ago) and how fast it comes back on - grrrrrr I could just slap myself. Ok sorry I'll move on now from that rant
looking from the exercise room towards the sewing cave - love those under cabinet lights
So the ice is just about out on the lake - why I do declare I believe we have survived another very loooooooong Minnesota winter - can I get a YAHOO out there
So how about something sewing related - here's a little pile of wool goodness to tease you with. This is all the wool needed to make up the sample for the new Halloween block of the month coming to Farmhouse Woolens in June. There's some bea-u-ti-ful overdyed colors and textures in that bunch - yummmm
I've got lots of fun things planned for Farmhouse Woolens once I get settled. Besides the Halloween BOM I will also have a stitchery BOM with little snippets of wool added and lots and lots of kits, stash builders, patterns, threads and fun things for your house. So it's been a bit quiet over there at the website, but I've been working in the background for fun things to come. I have a few orders to get out today and then I will be closing it down until the middle of May when I will open back up and start sign ups for the new BOM's. Hope you'll check back then to see what else is new.
Thanks to everyone for the sweet emails asking how I am and how things are going. Computer time has totally taken a backseat and I even missed an awesome giveaway over at Linda's - it was a great one by the way. Blogging and emailing will get back to normal very soon, with lots to share and I sure hope you stick with me, I miss chatting with all of you. On a building note I will say we have been so blessed to have a wonderful general contractor who has an amazing group of guys he can count on to get this job done. Like I told him this morning, it's so great to share a problem or concern with him and then walk out the door and know it will be taken care of - and believe me those issues have been few and far between. Building can be stressful and there has been some of that, it's normal, but he has taken most of that upon himself and that's helped keep it at a minimum for Mr. Farmhouse and I. To say that at the end of this project that I would work again with anyone of these guys in a heartbeat says a lot I think. I hope I've been as easy to work with as they have been.
So nothing but packing is going on right now - decision making of what's going and what's not, lordy that's been hard because I want it all, but it's not going to fit. I've set a date for a sale the end of May, so hopefully I will know by then and come to grips with what I can't keep, lol.
Just 9 more sleeps :) Someone looks a bit stressed over it all don't you think
FYI - Tyepad won't let me preview this to make sure it all looks OK - so sorry in advance if it doesn't.
until the move in date. To say I'm feeling the excitement would probably be an understatement. The house is so close to being complete and the dream is becoming a reality. Carpet will be finished today - wow what a difference that makes. Counters are all in and look amazing - here's a peek at the kitchen
I didn't take anymore pictures of the other finished areas, sorry. The porch railing on the upstairs little deck is finished and I'm pretty sure I'll be spending lots of time out there stitching away enjoying the view of the lake. Things are winding down at the house and next week should see just about everything complete. There will be a few things coming the following week, like my red pantry door, closet doors and the glass for the shower in the master bath. Otherwise - so close :)
Yesterday I took a quick trip down to Minneapolis with a couple of the woolies to visit Laurie at L J Fibers/Wooly Red Rug
What was the mission - to order wool for the new block of the month I will be offering starting in June. These gals are always open to a quick road trip especially if it involves fabric and wool and to have their input - well it's priceless, at least that's what they tell me, lol (just kidding now chickies you know how I value your input). Laurie is such a sweetheart to work with and always open to custom dyeing anything that I need to get the look I want. She's the calming force in keeping me on task and focused. Her service and wool is absolutely wonderful. Here's a few pics of us in action (that laundry basket is full of wool I brought home, plus I ordered more wool - YIKES)
here's some pics from our visit there last fall when we picked out the wool for my current BOM - I neglected to take pictures of these areas this time around but it gives you an idea of how full her store is of inspiration
Her store is just chock full of woolly goodness and wonderful samples of rug hooking and anything related to working with wool. I promised Laurie that I would say that her shop doesn't normally look like that - we were in full gear of picking out wools and were totally responsible for the mess you see all over the table and the stacks of wool she will be dyeing for me. This next BOM will be a Halloween project and I think we picked out some great colors and textures. I've stepped back from adding anything more to the website until after the move - but I've been planning and organizing fun things for Farmhouse Woolens that I will be adding this summer. For those of you who wanted to know, the little pillows I made last fall and winter for Anne will finally become patterns and kits this summer as well.
So that's about it for me. I must say that I feel this blog is getting a bit boring lately. Nothing creative coming out of my neck of the woods, just house stuff which is exciting for me, but boring I'm sure for you. My computer time in general has really taken a hit, but it won't be long and I hope to be showing treats from the new dream kitchen and the sewing cave, which won't be a cave anymore - lots of light for these peepers, so I guess a new name will be in order, plus a new name for the blog, well at least in the banner part anyway.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend and safe travels if your hitting the road for a visit somewhere. We are going to enjoy a wonderful dinner cooked by the married ones, all I have to do is make popovers - that I can handle.
Until Next Time
