Hard to believe that we are closing in on the end of July already. Our summer has been a busy one with time for enjoying the lake. Our kids have been home quite a bit on weekends enjoying the lake as well - which of course makes us very happy.
The store has been going great and summer traffic was more than I thought it would be - making me happy as well. I'm still struggling to find balance - but working towards some changes after Labor Day that should help me work towards that goal. I'm missing things that used to be apart of everyday life and am going to work hard towards getting those back in there - at least more often. I've come to realize that I can't do everything (light bulb moment here folks, lol) and so I'm also working towards making those things that are important to me - happen and letting other things go. That will involve some juggling, but it's something I know I need to do and can do. As we all know life is short and as my oldest son has said on more than one occasion "you only get 1 spin around the sun" I need to make that spin count for me and my family.
One of the things I've been struggling with has been my house in the "non" complete stage in my eyes. The rooms need tweaking and finishing in the decorating sense. I haven't had the mental energy to put the touches in the house that make it feel warm and cozy to me. So I asked a friend of mine to help me out and get me started - she graciously stepped forward to help this chick out. I've also got the ball rolling on getting valances for the main living area and a couple of rugs. A new chair for me and Cami was found for the sunroom, just waiting on the matching loveseat and that room should be done. So I'm making progress and that alone feels good, it calms me I guess because I'm moving forward instead of staring at it.
Here's a couple of pics - part of the front entryway which is getting a do-over with some different furniture down the road - but this a nice fix for now. I'm waiting on a upholstered settle that I've ordered
tv cabinet in the sunroom
a couple of shots of the mudroom which has always frustrated me - but I'm liking better now - this room is also waiting for a new chair and possible cupboard - which means changes down the road. See nothing stays in one place to long, lol. But these changes have been sitting in the back part of my decorating brain since day one - I'm just finally moving forward with them
Now a visual treat -the local couple who made my tv cabinet and bed - which you haven't seen yet I think, plus all the mirrors in the house has opened a store about 20 miles from me - just look at the outside - gives you goosebumps doesn't it, lol - LOVE those shutters and look at that adorable sign
They've only been open 2 weeks - and are doing great. So if your local - head over to the town of Ashby and give them a visit, you won't be disappointed. I stopped by on opening day and NEED to get back there, lol because I know she's added more things since that day
So I hope your summer is going swimmingly and you have time to pull up a rocking chair
Until Next Time
