Hey how is everyone doing out there in bloggy land. I know I've been absent here and for that I'm sorry. I certainly didn't mean to do that (ya I know same story) but it's been a busy time here at the Farmhouse. I was at the Minnesota Quilt Show helping for a day and a half with Ms. Stacy from Buttermilk Basin at her booth. Came home and had a mini "staycation" by myself while Mr. Farmhouse was at Lake of the Woods on a fishing vacation.
So what did I do on my "staycation" ABSOLUTELY NUTTIN, lol and loved it. Well I did a few things like order cushions for the wicker furniture - figured out and ordered bedding for the Farmhouse Boy's bedrooms and ours. Spent a good amount of time looking through magazines and getting inspired and ideas for nesting here at home. You see that's my goal for the summer - NESTING.
While enjoying my quiet time alone here at home I did lots of thinking. It was so nice to have time and project commitments behind me as well as a major decision that took up lots of brain space. To have a clear plate with nothing close on the horizon. Not sure how long it's been since that happened. I plan on enjoying the summer here at home on the lake - now if only the weather would cooperate and bring some summer heat it would make it perfect. So nesting is on top of the list, like getting some projects started and finished in a timely frame, finishing up rooms that have been ignored since we moved in, some personal sewing time to work on those projects that are calling my name, there will be company coming during the summer - so some fun cooking and baking will be happening which I will enjoy tremendously. So stay tuned as I take you on my nesting journey this summer. Both of my kids live only an hour away now - which means they will be here at home more this summer enjoying the lake - going to love that.
Speaking of kids we have a new grandpup now
Max is going to be a HUGE yellow lab when he's full grown which is what S#2 wanted. Max's father weighed 95 lbs and judging by those sweet paws on him - he's going to take after daddy, lol. So when everyone is home - that means 4 dogs with Ms Cami -( who enjoyed Max very much by the way ) - it sure will be a busy place, lol.
The other BIG news here at the Farmhouse that is life changing - is that Mr. Farmhouse has retired as of June 15th.
This has been on the back burner for us for some time and was put into action this past January. We were part owners of a printed circuit board company so retiring isn't as easy as just giving your 2 weeks notice. There was lots of decisions, meetings and paperwork between our partner and us. Hubby is 55 and is feeling very fortunate to be able to do this so young. I'm sure he will do something else down the road, he's to driven not to - but he might not do anything either - he has choices and that's a good thing. I'm thankful that the process of this went so smoothly, that our partner was very understanding about it and that we all walked away as friends. This was a stressful situation that could have easily ended badly as so many partnerships do - but it went very smoothly and in the end we can all sit down together for dinner and call each other friends - you can't ask for more than that. I'm thankful that he doesn't have the stress of a business on his mind anymore - the early mornings are officially done as of this morning - his days are his own to do as he pleases. We have plans for some traveling in the future and who knows what else. Part of my closing my store was because of this retirement - originally we thought he would be done by his birthday in March. Flexibility is something we both want. With the kids so close we can jump in the car and go up for dinner, playing golf whatever we want. Owning and running a business takes so much out of you - there are wonderful and good things and things that are an "opportunity" as the Mister would call problems or issues, lol. He gave 23 years to that business and was ready to let it go. Our partner has his boys involved and a lot of good people so the business will continue to do well. It was a wonderful thing that came into our lives and blessed us in ways we had never imagined. I'm thankful that we are young and healthy to enjoy this part of our life.
It's a good thing :)
So now I'm off to nest - I plan on being here a few times a week to share this journey with you - it should be fun :)
Until Next Time
