Holy smokes the week goes fast doesn't it? Seems like it was just Monday and here we are at Friday already. We have company coming this weekend and I'm hoping for great beach weather so they can enjoy the water. It's my DIL's sister, hubby and darling little daughter - so there will be little feet running around here this weekend - be still my heart I'm so looking forward to that :). Oh son#1 and DIL will be here as well and I'm also looking forward to seeing them :).
Anywho I promised you some show and tell and a recipe - so let's get down to business. This week was busy with my woolie group meeting on Tuesday afternoon and another stitching group I was invited to join that meets in another town about 45 minutes from here on Wednesday. So let's start with the Woolies - we all met up at JM's lake place for some stitching time, lunch and celebrating.
Ms. Kari's book just came out about 2 weeks ago - here's Ms. Jean perusing her autographed copy of Just Around The Corner
We are all so proud of Ms. Kari and her beautiful book. Now the pressure is on for the next book which she is just getting started on. Ms. Faye came up with a darling way to celebrate this huge accomplishment which I'm sure she will be blogging about - she'd better, lol.
Here's a little show and tell from that day. Ms. Jolene was involved in a round robin with several other ladies she had never met. The finished quilts will be heading over to Ireland next year where they will tour several different areas - eventually coming back to the participants where they are to donate them to a charity of their choice for fund-raising - hope I got those rules right. Anyway she got her quilt back a few weeks ago - now she will get it quilted, bound and then mailed off to Ireland in January I believe.
She made the center flower part and the others finished up the rest
Next up Ms. Faye who shared with us the quilt she made for her sweet new grandson Henry.
Next up Ms. Jean made this adorable purse
Then we spent the afternoon stitching away on bindings for Quilts of Valor quilt tops
Then I headed down the road the next day to meet up with the stitching group in the other town. Here's a little eye candy from them
One of the gals took a class to make this darling little scrapbook
I just love Lori Smith's patterns and this one is adorable
My sister was here for a few days to relax and enjoy the water. While she and my niece were here I put them to work making the S'more dessert for dinner one night.
Oh lordy this is a good one - you NEED to try it. Not sure whether to thank Ms. Kari or not for sharing this recipe - it's a rich one - but worth the calories. I took a picture of the recipe (how lazy is that, lol) - the only thing that didn't show up on the recipe was putting the mini-marshmallows on top after you take it out of the freezer and putting under the broiler. You only need to broil for a few seconds so watch carefully :)
I had such a great time with my sis and niece. My nephew and his wife where close enough to our area to pop over for the day on Monday and join us for dinner. Of course a "funtoon" ride was in order
driven by our great captain who has loads of time now for "funtooning", lol
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you back here on Monday for my giveaway. I think it's a good one :)
Until Next Time
