I think we probably all have a love/hate relationship with them. I'm lucky enough to have 2 of them. The one I kept at home and was my primary computer and the one I had at the store which I did my website/store on. So on Tuesday morning I'm checking email on my main one and POOF the computer freezes up and POOF everything is gone - yes folks everything. Now what's that you say - did I back up stuff. Yes I did but hadn't done that for several months - that's not good. Yes I know they can sometimes find files and get some things back - but in my case - that would be a BIG FAT NO. Not only did I lose recent pictures - but all my favorite blogs were listed on there as well. So today I pick up my "should be like brand new" computer and will start all over again - and I will back up much more frequently - lesson learned
Now let's move on to other things. Thanks for the love on my sewing nest. I feel so blessed to have such a great space to sew in. I actually spent some time in there on Wednesday morning and it was bliss. I don't have anything to show for that time spent - but it sure felt good.
A few of us have decide to do an applique challenge and meet once a month to show our finished block - this challenge is to keep us on track. One of my goals is to get good at doing hand applique - with my passion of handwork this is right up my alley. Our first block is do on the 21st of September. I'm also going to join up with Anne starting in January for a block of the month challenge - that will be fun as well. We are waiting on that challenge because she's busy with a few other things at this point. In both of these challenges I'm using kits I already have - wooo hooo - what a concept, lol.
Our "woopee" get together was a great success and so much fun. Everyone except one was able to make it. I took pics of the show and tell to share with you. I also had them work on a project that I came up with - won't share it here as I think I will make up kits and sell a few of them. Here's the show and tell - I'm not aware of any of the names of the patterns - but it's good eye candy :)
how cute is that little log cabin sewing bag - that wasn't show and tell but it could have been, lol.
The next day we hosted our annual summer fish fry - minus a few people who couldn't make it. As always there's lots of laughs and to much food. This great group of friends decided to take it upon themselves and honor Mr. Farmhouse with a wonderful retirement gift - here Mr. Rod is giving his pearls of wisdom to the Mister
Then one of the peeps and I hosted a dual baby shower for 2 close friends daughters who had girls and ended up using the same name. GB made up these darling little diaper cakes we used for the tables
Mr. Farmhouse and I have been "bonding" this week. We started out with heading to the driving range to hit golf balls. I'm a bit rusty and with a bad shoulder wasn't sure how it would go - but it went all right
Well that wraps up the week. The kids are coming home for the weekend so I'd better go get some food in the house - hey I could probably go fishing, lol. Maybe I should have gone camping with Ms. Denise who was going to be staying at their own campgrounds called "Campcatchabigone" - who knows what I would have brought home. With the cooler days and cooler nights the water is starting to cool down as well. I'm very ready for autumn - the flowers are getting pulled this weekend (I'm totally done with that watering business) and next week I'm going to start decorating for fall.
Have a wonderful weekend and will see you back here next week where I have a great recipe to share with you - hopefully some fall decorating and a sewing project. It's nesting time at the Old Farmhouse.
Until Next Time
