How's that for a title - a little feast for your eyes then a little yummy for your tummy. I chuckled at a few of the comments from the last post about not sharing the pie - well let's say Mr. Farmhouse said he didn't want any pie (he's not a sweet eater - I know isn't that crazy, lol) and I said I would be happy to share "A BITE" with him if he wanted to try it - well let's say he did a fair amount of damage, lol.
A few weeks back I attended the quilt show in Des Moines with the girls from Brainerd - also known as the Beeps. I shared that trip a couple of posts back. But I didn't show the quilts from the show. After looking at my pictures I could see that I was very attracted to the applique quilts the most as you can see
This quilt was a winner and stinkin cute - but look closely at the quilting in the second picture
Then we headed over to where the quilts were being shown from the local guild
This one was so unique
How bright and happy is this one
So that's a few of my favorites - hope you enjoyed the candy for your eyes.
Now how about something yummy for your tummy. A recipe from Mother Tother (my Mom) out of one of her many cookbooks and it's a good one if you like potatoes and I likey spuds, lol.
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 8 oz bag shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 5 potatoes peeled and sliced
- 2 onions sliced
Melt butter in pan and then blend in the flour. Cook for 1 minute, stirring. Whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until it thickens a bit. Stir in cheese until melted and then add the salt and pepper.
In a greased 9 x 13 spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture on the bottom. Arrange the spuds and onions over the cheese mixture and spread the remaining cheese mix on top.
Bake at 350 uncovered for 1 hour until potatoes are tender.
We had this the other night with meat loaf and green beans. You know there's no way to take a good picture of meatloaf is there - but dang it's good, lol. What I like about this potatoe dish compared to your typical cheesy spud dish is the sliced onion in there - yummmm.
Well that's it for now - next up is pics from retreat last weekend and then I'm caught up :).
Until Next Time
