Well is everyone sitting back enjoying the last few days of 2013. I hope your holidays were wonderful and spent the way you wanted. We celebrated the weekend before Christmas with our kids - first time ever not to have them around for the actual day and we survived. What an enjoyable weekend we had - Ellie is just so much fun to have around - her personality is beautiful just like she is and she makes us laugh all the time. Goodness we must have been a boring bunch before she arrived lol. Then Mr. Farmhouse and I headed down to Mpls to spend Christmas with Mother Tother and my sister and her family. Boy it's been several years since that's happened. All in all it was a wonderful holiday spent with people we love - isn't that what it's all about.
As 2013 comes to a close I think we all reflect on the past year - the blessings that came our way, the joy we experienced, the special moments and times, the struggles we've gone through and the challenges that life can throw in our path. We all have them and we all deal with them differently. What I might see as a challenge you might think - that's a piece of cake what's she complaining about - we all roll differently. So when I started to reflect on this year - actually starting a couple of months ago - I realized there were areas that for me were out of balance in my life - which in turn took some of the joy out of special moments, made challenges bigger than they needed to be etc. Some of those struggles and challenges along with way showed me what was important in my life and what I no longer needed or should spend the energy worrying or thinking about. I knew that I needed to make some changes to find some balance. I was reading Jodi's blog Pleasant Home (she has an awesome blog by the way and is such a sweetheart) she posted this necklace one day "find Joy in the journey"
and it was like SHAZAAM - that's it - that's the word for 2014 "JOY" - that's the journey I want to take this coming year. So I quickly ordered the necklace and have started wearing it daily to remind me of my path - thank you Jodi for helping me with my plan and not even knowing it. I will spare you the details I've mapped out for myself - they are after all personal - but you will see them come to life here on the blog over the coming year and know at least bits and pieces of my journey. I will start out 2014 with a post a day for the month of January - to get the blogging juices flowing again - then keep up with it as the year moves forward with at least a weekly post to stay current with you all. I've not only been away from posting but also from reading blogs - I look forward to getting going again and sharing things with you and catching up on you bloggy friends as well. It feels overwhelming to go back and try to catch up on things I haven't shared - so I'm starting fresh on the 1st just like the new year.
So enough chit chat here - I'm off to address my New Years cards and get those in the mail - then I think it's time to sit by the tree and do a little stitching and give my new eyeball a test run lol. My cataract surgery went very well and the vision in that eye is wonderful I tell ya wonderful. I'm sure stitching will be so much easier and not so frustrating anymore.
Have a wonderful rest of the holiday season and a safe New Years Eve if you venture out. If you feel like leaving a comment - let me know what your plan is for the upcoming year - or maybe a word you've picked out to guide you in your journey - there might be a little drawing to start out the New Year with a bang from those comments - I'm just sayin.
Until Next Time
