Yahoooo it's Wednesday and I'm back like I said I would be. Thank you all for the sweet comments on the decorating - I think I actually got back to all of you except for a couple of the last comments. That's a first in quite awhile. I'm really trying to be good about this blogging stuff.
A few weeks back we took a quick trip to visit my brother and his wife in Wisconsin. One of the traditions for us is heading over to the farmers market which is all around the capital and pick up goodies for our dinner. They always have beautiful flower arrangements and we all decided we needed to each bring one home. Notice how beautiful that sky is - but don't let the sun fool you - it was a very cool walk around.
My brother loves to cook and his meals always involve everyone participating - this year sis and I were in charge one night making the apple dumplings with caramel sauce - oh my gosh those were good. We had a contest one night on who could get the sugar crust perfect on their cream brulee - Mother Tother did a great job on hers and I think she was the winner - but lordy I can't remember. She's really working that little flame thrower lol.
Mr. Farmhouse was in charge of the veggies one night - good job honey
So I had a nice little mini staycation last week - Mr. Farmhouse and Oldestfarmhouseson went on a little hunting adventure for elk in Montana - which meant I had a few days to myself. No cooking so I could eat cereal or toast for dinner if I wanted lol. But I was glad to see him pull in the driveway after several days. They saw some beautiful country and were successful in their hunt.
Sooooo what did I do during that time - well I had a little outing with one of the peeps for the holiday tour of homes - that was a fun afternoon but no pictures allowed during the tour.
I might not have done any cooking but I did do some baking of good old chocolate chip cookies. I bit the bullet and cleaned my oven - then needed to celebrate by baking cookies lol. I just have to share how shiny that dang oven looks - almost looks brand new.
I enjoyed a couple of these cookies and quickly froze the rest - truth be told I really only like the cookies when they are fresh that day. Otherwise I don't hear them calling my name lol.
So what did I sew on during my mini staycation - one was a fun little oldie but goodie from Thimbleberries called Merry Halloween
The finished quilt belongs to one of the peeps - she graciously shared the black star fabric and I could fill in the rest from my stash. The quilt is further along than it shows here - but this is the picture I had. Yahooooo I'm loving it. The fun vintage halloween fabric from Thimbleberries has always been a favorite. So am I behind for Halloween this year or ahead for next year - I prefer to think I'm ahead.
I also got this one sewn together and its back from the quilter already. Today the binding got sewn on - now I just need to stitch it down. The actual pattern has 6 applique blocks but I choose to do only 4 so it would fit on a wall in the hallway. Love my house but open floor plans don't allow for a lot of wallspace for hanging quilts. But I love the 4 blocks.
Then I finished up all the applique and wool snippets for this Lori Smith little quilt square. Now I just need to get it to the quilters for a little quilting magic on it. Such a fun piece and it can stay up all winter.
Yup I had a nice quiet and productive few days alone. Just me and Ms. Cami hanging out. It's amazing what one can accomplish when there is no schedule.
Wishing you a productive week in whatever you choose.
See you next week.
