Did everyone have a great weekend? We sure did - even with the snow - which is gone now, thank goodness.
We had the pleasure of attending a surprise anniversary party for our dear friends who were celebrating 30 years of wedded bliss :). The looks on their faces when they came into the door was priceless. Their kids put on this party and did a great job. Although we were there to see the happy couple - this one was the star
Isn't she adorable and she was so sweet during the party - lots of fun. Her Mommy who doesn't sew made the skirt with Kari's help on Saturday. It has adorable flowers attached on the other side that you can't see - and she did a great job - not sure if she'll keep sewing but hey ya never know. You can see by Kari's eyes that she had been crying - she did that off and on all night I think due to shock, lol.
Otherwise Mr. Farmhouse and I moved things around on Sunday (his favorite thing to do, lol) trying to get everything where I want it - I'll share pics later this week - much still needs tweaking but it's getting there.
Tonight I share with you a new recipe. The Peeps had this dish last summer when we crashed a get together of the Beeps at dinner time. We did bring our own pizza just so you know we have manners, lol. One of the dishes was this crockpot Rigatoni served by Dawn. So today I made it up for the Mister and I. Here's the recipe as written (Dawn got this from a cookbook but I don't know the name to give proper credit)
- 28 oz jar spaghetti sauce
- 12 oz rigatoni cooked
- 1- 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef - cooked (I used 1 lb of beef)
- 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 lb pepperoni slices
- sliced mushrooms - optional (Gail you can leave those out, lol)
- sliced onions - optional
In a 4 quart crockpot, layer half of each ingredient in order listed then repeat again.
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
What I did was added diced onions to the burger when I was browning rather than raw onions just being added. Since I will make this again because it was yummy and dang easy I would make one change. I would mix the sauce and meat together rather than layer it - just to make sure all of the noodles got sauced. I also added a bit more sauce this go around as I had 2 jars on hand. I probably added another 1/2 of that extra jar, maybe not that much - it was by eyeball ya know. Then I would layer the pepperoni and cheese just like the recipe said. I'm a sauce girl and like my noodles good and coated so that's why I would make that change - but it's just as good layered like the recipe said. I had mine plugged in for 5 hours and it was ready to go.
So I'm off to play a little solitare. I hope I have some sewing to show you later this week. It's been awhile since I've really sewed - although the room isn't really ready yet I'm starting to get the fever for needle and thread :).
Until Next Time
Hmmm......dinner looks good! I think I need to try that one...thanks!

You're so funny -- if I waited until my room was ready to sew, I'd never get anything done! Looks like Kari had a fun party. And thanks for the recipe -- it looks yummy!!!

I'm still a newbie when it comes to cooking, the rigatoni won't turn too mushy if you put it in the crock pot already cooked?

Can't wait to try this Saturday. It looks yummy and will be a great filling meal after an afternoon on the lake.

My hubby is a dairy-free eater. Do you think we'd be doomed if we skipped the cheese?

How many does this serve?

To make this even easier, I buy packages of ground beef and cook ahead and freeze. Then thaw out in frig the night before. Then all you have to do is cook your pasta and do your layers.
