Yes the countdown has officially started hasn't it. Did you miss me last week - I'm sure you checked and checked because you had as much free time as I did in prepping for Thanksgiving. I had family arrive on Wednesday so as Mother Tother is prone to say "THE PRESSURE WAS ON" lol. Plus NO DECORATING for Christmas took place - gasp I know I know. However Mom was good with it - she hadn't see the fall decorations so there was still things for her to check out and see a different season at the farmhouse.
Before everyone got here I did whip up several pillowcases for the little ones to go with their jammies and book my sister and I gave them - I forgot to take a picture of the girl's pillowcases - but here's for the little boys
We started that tradition a few years ago where we give them each a new pair of Santa jammies for the holiday season. This year we added the book and pillowcases.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with most of them staying over the course of two nights - so lots of time together to laugh, cook, share memories and just chill. One of the things we did Wednesday night was to make homemade peppermint marshmallows - my sister and bro in action
then in the pan to firm up overnight. Oh my gosh they were good - I forgot to get the recipe from her so will have to do that. Fun thing to try. Everyone went home with a little plate of them to enjoy in cocoa or just to eat.
After the cooking session on Wednesday night we sat down and enjoyed a peppermint maritini - again very very good and festive
Ms. Cami ended up with a couple of cracked tootsies the weekend she was boarded. She's always gone to the same place ever since we've had her - and has always been very well taken care of - they love her like we do - I know they felt horrible and are taking very good care of her to fix it up. She has to wear this little splint for a few weeks.
She's getting around pretty good with it now. Did you know that the long snack baggies make a good little boot to put over the splint so it doesn't get wet lol - I bet the baggie company never thought of that.
So my intention was to kick into Christmas decorating after everyone left on Friday - but then hmmmmm instead I thought oh oh - I think I'm getting a cold - and boom there it was - kicked me to the curb it did. Today seems like I've "turned the torner" as Mom says. I sure hope so - no time for being sick. So with Mr. Farmhouses help I did manage to pull all the fall stuff down over the weekend and get it put away (thanks honey) and he got up our new tree
Pretty pathetic looking isn't it lol. Seriously it's going to be a good tree once it's fluffed and decorated. It's 9 feet tall and super slim - just what I need for the area I have our tree in. So it will work and should look good when I'm done - I hope ...haha
I did get the outside decorated before everyone came on Wednesday
Yup not much - there is another tree top pot on the other side of the door and they light up at night as well as the wreath. I love my front porch - however it's a wind tunnel when it's windy - which happens alot around here - so I can't have much on there that isn't heavy or it's gone with the wind. That cute little plaid throw is from my friends Sandy No Blog and Anne/Cottons-N-Wools when they came to visit last spring. LOVE it Sandy and Anne. So although the porch decorations aren't super exciting they say Happy Winter. Also my very favorite Christmas decoration came out of storage - always the first thing to make an appearance when the decoration starts
Mother Tother gave us kids one of these Santa's many many moons ago and it was always a favorite of my two boys when they were younger. It's still a favorite of mine. Probably came from the dime store - anyone remember those. He is my favorite by far and I always feel inspired by him to decorate.
Oh I almost forgot - I do love these simple arrangements we had on our table at Thanksgiving - I can use these for a few more weeks no problem - sweet and simple
Well that's it - with the crud there hasn't been much happening around here. But next week when I blog I hope to have it all done and ready to share with you. If your on instagram - Anne/Cottons and Wools - Sandy No Blog - sfeigner on Instgram and I are posting a pic a day of holiday inspiration from yesterday until Christmas Eve. I think a few other people will be joining and there will be a link on my instgram account for them as well. Come check it out if your on IG - and hopefully be inspired.
