Farmhouse Woolens Gathering
Something I've been thinking about doing is offering a few gatherings a year in my sewing nest starting with one this autumn season and another before the Christmas holidays. What would be offered is a main project appropriate for the current season, another small and quick project that hopefully you could take home finished or at least close to it, lunch and dessert and maybe some decorating tips to get you inspired for the season. This would be a day of hand sewing and inspiration. Please email me at [email protected] if this is something that might interest you. There is no commitment at this time - I just want to see if there is interest before I move ahead and plan. Please note that if you've been trying to reach me at my old email of [email protected] that email is no longer in use and hasn't been for sometime. Please don't think I'm ignoring you - I no longer have access to it.
WOW here we are Friday and almost to the end of May. I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures from quilt market. Like I said it was a whirlwind trip but we sure accomplished what we wanted to.
Mr Farmhouse and I went to town today (sounds like the start of a story doesn't it lol) to finally pick up some flowers for planting in the pots we have. The littles will be coming this weekend so I hope they will help Grandma plant them. It's sure to be a fun little project and probably a little messy and dirty. Little Wyatt will love it.
So Anne from Cottons-n-Wools and Sandy - No Blog have been doing an ongoing challenge of making lots of projects each month and Anne shares each of their versions each month. It's so much fun to see how different a pattern can look when they each put their own spin on it, use their own fabrics and how it's finished up. Sometimes they are very different and other times they are close. The three of us chat on a regular basis - through social media sometimes daily - sometimes even a couple of times a day. Mr. Farmhouse wants to know how we can have that much to talk about lol - we just do. Anywhooooo I wanted in on the challenge - but not the amount that they do - but with one project a month. So tonight I'm sharing what I did and I'm sure Anne will share when she next blogs their version. If you follow on Instagram - we are sharing tonight on there at 8:00 central time. Anne of course is Cottonsnwool and Sandy is Sfeigner. So if your on Instagram and don't follow them - now you can find them. Both have beautiful posts and always inspiring. So our first project was a pattern from Cottage Creek Designs called Sweet Liberty. Mine is a mixture of cottons and wools. I will be offering kits for this little quilt next week.
Our other challenge was a darling little quilt pattern from Cheri Payne/Wednesday Best called Tis Spring. Unfortunately I didn't take the picture until this evening so my lighting isn't very good. The border is a blue floral and the inner border is a tiny red check. I wish you could see the sweet quilting my quilter did - it doesn't show up very well with the poor lighting. I also choose not to embroider the words Tis Spring on it. It was a fun one to work on. So now I have a project done for next spring - yahooooo.
One of the things I will be offering in my little shop starting next week is what I'm calling Seasons at the Farmhouse. This will run for 6 months and it will involve a fast project that you can finish up toot sweet and enjoy for either the current season or the upcoming season. Plus there will be a few little extra's in each months kit. This will be a six month commitment so I thought I would give you a little something to think about before sign ups start next week with a start date the 3rd week in June. I will share more details next week. Here's a little peek at the first kit
So that's it for now. My kids are here and it's time to visit. Wishing you a wonderful, safe and blessed holiday weekend.
You, Anne and Sandy all made great projects. I already followed you and Anne on IG and started following Sandy tonight so I got a sneak at your pretties.
The Gathering sounds like loads of fun and if I lived closer I would surely participate. I'm sure you are going to have lots of interest.
I look forward to getting my own Sweet Liberty kit when it is available and I will be signing up for your Season's at the Farmhouse.
Enjoy the kids and your weekend!

Lovely projects, Karen! I love all of your different interpretations and I did see the fabulous quilting on yours when you posted on Instagram. I saw Cheri's original quilt at Country Loft last year and bought the pattern so yahoo...I already have this. You girls did a wonderful job on it and have inspired me to get going on it. Thanks so much for the inspiration and have a fun weekend with your family.

I wish I lived closer to attend your gatherings. It's great to have IG to connect and see projects. Can't wait to get my hands on the Watering Can wallhanging. Save a kit for me.
We have a huge down pour of rain this weekend, so sewing for me.
Have a good weekend with the littles.
