Oh glory be it's so wonderful to turn that calendar today to September. We've had an amazing summer full of family fun, really nice weather and a spectacular trip. But I'm really ready for fall and all it brings. I'm so hoping for a long and glorious autumn season, full of crisp sunny days, beautiful fall color and all that glorious autumn brings to the table . This is truly my very favorite season for both the weather, decorating and pure comfort food like a big bowl of thick hearty soup and warm bread.
Last week we entertained my family and had a great time. Good food and lots of laughs. I have a few good recipes to share with you in the next blog post that we enjoyed. This week has been crazy busy to and capped off with that fun annual physical today. Glad that's behind me for another year lol. Tomorrow is a little stitching with a friend and then the kids come for the weekend. Not a bad way to wrap up the week.
I must admit that I was totally over my flowers a week ago and we emptied out the pots and put them away for the season. But this sweet little flower grouping has thrived despite a little neglect this summer and I just couldn't get rid of it yet
Can you see Ms. Cami in the door - you can't tell but she was giving me the business because she wanted to be outside lol. My sweet little grey faced girl is still running the show.
Soooooo my new little camera arrived today and I hope it's just what I need for blogging. It's as simple as they come without any bells and whistle - simple point and shoot. There's a camera story here why I needed a new one - but we won't go there lol. I also bit the bullet and bought a new computer. This one has given me so much grief and I just need to acknowledge it's a lemon and move on. So a Mac has entered the house - that's going to be a big learning curve for this girl - but I know I can do it lol. Plus my kids all have them and they can help this granny out. Now it can talk to my phone and my ipad - shoot maybe they can even talk about me and how simple I am lol. Sometimes technology is just a tad frightening isn't it.
Next week the peeps hit the road for the annual road trip. This time to the Madison quilt show - with stops along the way. Should be a great time. I'm hoping to start decorating for fall this weekend as well - I can't wait. Plus this could also be helpful when shopping on our trip - you know if I need something to fill in here or there lol.
So what's coming up at my etsy site Farmhouse Woolens in the near future. First I will start listing new things on the 13th of September. With the road trip next week I've decided to just wait until then. Here's a sneak peek at a couple of kits you'll find there
Both perfect for the fall season. You will find those kits listed on the evening of the 13th.
One of the things I offered during the summer for 3 months was a club I called Charming Farmhouse Seasons. The last kit they received in August was this little wallhanging using a pattern by Chestnut Junction
Along with the kit and pattern they received a silver charm, recipe, decorating ideas in the form of photographs, fat quarter or a piece of wool and a newsletter all for a set price which included postage. The feedback I received from several of the club members was very positive which I was thankful for - they signed up for it without knowing the projects - each month was a surprise. So I will be kicking off this club again on October first with a twist. Now instead of signing up for length of time it will be on a first come first serve basis. In doing it this way it gives me flexibility to be much more creative and offer different finishes with the project such as boxes, frames, holders etc as well as projects that may take more fabric and wool. Because of whatever finishes are picked there will be limited quantities for these kits - but the listing will always be the first of each month and always at the same time. I will blog as well when the time is close as a reminder. I know from hearing from others that not everyone has access to a computer during the day - and they were feeling left out. So that's why my listings will always be in the evening for special items.
Also I will be offering this beautiful quilt as a block of the month starting the 1st of October as well
This is such a fun quilt and I've been working hard on getting the perfect wools for the project. This BOM will run for six months and will include your borders and binding for the project. There will be two ways to sign up for it - paying once for the whole thing or monthly using a credit card you will have to call me with. The listing for this BOM will also be on the 13th of September with shipping the first week in October. Then shipping the first week of each month for the next 5 months. I'm still fine tuning the price which will include your shipping each month. I will have limited space for this one because of the wools I've chosen to use for it - and they are gorgeous. I'm using the same color tones and the same border fabrics that Stacy the designer used. So if you like that look you'll be happy with my choices.
Next up is a gathering here on the 12th of November from 10 - 4. This is going to be a fun holiday inspired get together to share with your friends. The day will be full of projects, good food, decorating ideas as well as some handmade offerings. The cost will be $75.00 which will include your 2 projects, food and beverages, handouts and gift bag. If your interested please email me at [email protected] to reserve your spot as space is limited.
Also coming will be wool and fabric bundles, kits and patterns.
There will be no blogging next week as I will be on the road. But follow me on Instagram as I will share our travels and stops along the way.
So this weekend wraps up the summer and it sounds like it could be a bit soggy on Sunday and Monday - that's ok I've got lots of handwork and decorating to keep me busy. In the meantime I think I will go join Mr. Farmhouse, enjoy this beautiful day and catch a few rays of sunshine.
See you back here on the 13th as I get back to weekly blogging.
